The Confidential setting allows you to restrict who can view a respondent's survey results. When a submission is marked as confidential, only the person who created the survey invite can see the respondent's profile — it will be hidden from all other team members.
This is useful for sensitive assessments, such as when evaluating internal candidates or when working with third-party respondents who expect privacy.
How to Mark a Survey as Confidential
Option 1: When Sending the Survey Invite
- From the Dashboard, click Send Survey.
- In the Send Survey modal, click Advanced Settings to expand the options.
- Toggle on Make Confidential.
- Copy and share the survey link as usual.
All submissions through this link will be automatically marked as confidential.
Option 2: After a Submission Has Been Received
- Go to Survey Submissions in the left sidebar.
- Click on the submission you want to mark as confidential.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top right of the Submission Details panel.
- Select Make Confidential from the dropdown.
What Happens When a Submission is Confidential?
- The Confidential column in the Survey Submissions list will show a lock icon for that entry.
- Other team members will see the contact's name but will not be able to view the survey results or personality profile.
- Only the person who originally sent the survey invite (or an admin) can view the full results.
Removing Confidentiality
To remove the confidential status from a submission, open the submission, click the three-dot menu, and select Remove Confidential. The results will then become visible to all team members again.
Tips
- Use confidential mode when assessing candidates for sensitive leadership or executive roles.
- If you use Custom Tracking with a confidential survey, you can still see aggregated submission counts without exposing individual results.
- Confidential submissions are still counted in your overall metrics on the Dashboard.
